Drive and Idler Shafts
Depending on the conveyor system and application, Branscheid offers drive and idler shafts as well as idler pulleys in a variety of configurations. Custom-designed and precision-manufactured, they ensure optimal integration into the respective conveyor chain system.
Drive shaft for single-strand drop-forged link chains with a keyway
Manufactured from C45 (1.0503) steel or a higher-grade material. The connection via a keyway and key ensures lossless torque transmission. The set screws hold the sprocket in place. Components can be easily disassembled.
Shaft with deflection pulley for single-strand Drop-forged link chains
Shafts are manufactured as standard from C45 (1.0503) steel or a higher-grade material. They are connected via a keyway and key, secured by set screws. The components can be easily disassembled.

Deflection shaft for double-strand drop-forged link chains with polygonal links
Shafts are manufactured as standard from C45 (1.0503) steel or a higher-grade material. Polygonal spacer washers keep the chain in place during deflection. Components can be easily disassembled.

The Drive and Idler Shafts
In trough chain conveyors, the shafts play a crucial role. They serve to transmit the drive’s power to the sprockets and, consequently, to the conveyor chain. The interaction between the drive shaft and the idler shaft ensures proper chain tension and precise chain movement, effectively preventing sagging or jamming. This contributes significantly to the conveyor’s durability and reliability. The shafts are manufactured from C45 (1.0503) or higher-grade steel as standard.
